And then the heaven’s opened up and said, “The Adventures of Jesus Christ is fun, hilarious, and unlike any Second Coming tale you’ve ever read before. This story is loaded with foul language and radical thinking that may not be suitable for “real” bible readers but I encourage you to take a leap of faith, open your mind, and let the good times roll.”
Lyle looked up to the sky, blinded by the light and said, “No problem. I got it handled.” Then reached for the bottle of wine.
“Now listen to me you pagans and “Sunday only” believers, let me tell you about my good friend, Jesus. My new best friend.”
Everyone stopped to listen.
Lyle took a swig of wine and cleared his throat. “Jesus’ Second Coming is upon us.”
Lyle stopped, surprised anyone was even listening to him.
“He’s come to save the true believers, but along the way encounters many unexpected obstacles that miracles and divine teachings may not be able to overcome.” He stopped once again, still surprised people were listening to him.
He took another gulp of wine and continued. “He’ll first be perceived as a man with a mental illness. You will not take the stranger seriously and some will even think of him as no more than a hobo living on the streets. I know, I know. The Son of God, a hobo. But! He is able to recruit one follower, me, Lyle, and together we set off to fulfill God’s will.”
“But where will you find those who are meant to be saved?” yells one man from the crowd.
Lyle thought about it. He wasn’t so sure himself so ignored the question altogether and continued with his speech. “Jesus and me, Lyle, embark on an epic journey that ultimately leads us to sin city—Las Vegas.”
The crowd cheers.
“Along the way, we meet Amish, doubters and boxers and encounter magic, death and fanatics between plenty of time to let our hair down by turning water into wine.” The crowd cheers again.
“Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Now, please.” Lyle hushed the crowd. “Let me tell you our story.”
From the author P.S. I must warn you. This series of four soul-saving books may be more entertaining than your Sunday sermon. It may even keep you awake. Though I can’t guarantee any of what I say is true.

It's frustrating to find an error on the second page, and lots more after that, but the idea itself is fascinating. The characters are quite intriguing and captured my attention from the beginning. It's interesting to think about how Jesus would be received in today's world. It's something I've often thought about, and to see it play out in such vivid detail is entertaining. It's also thought provoking.I tried to overlook the editing issues because the story was fairly strong, but at times they were distracting. Lots of wrong words, missing words and that sort of thing.
If you can look past the poor editing, it's definitely worth the read if you ever wondered what Jesus would deal with in today's society.

He Is Risen The Adventures of Jesus Christ Book 1 edition by Colin Campbell Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This brings Jesus into a modern world in a relatable way. In a way I could relate to because it probably would be difficult to get people to slow down to listen to Him. I loved this story. I was afraid that it would be difficult to write a story about Jesus and his adventures without it becoming heracy, but this was really great and brought Jesus and the Bible to us with meaning, reverance and humor.
A look at what would happen if JC did return. Read it because I thought, in relation to the title, that the book would be something different. It wasn't. An author trying to continue the previous work of fiction that was, with a modern interpretation of some of those stories. Didn't quite come off for me. A far more interesting update on the character of JC was Peter Tilley's, Mission. Now that was a good read.
This book provides a really really interesting take on the Second Coming .I've never read anything like it before so I can't make comparisons.I think that's a good thing though since I originality is very big with me and sadly difficult to come by .Usually different means weird or off the wall .that's not the case here.while I will not pretend to have understood all of the points it wants to make I did enjoy the journey.I will definitely recommend it to people I know because I will want to hear their take on it.I will recommend it here to others as something you need to read and think about yourself.
I downloaded the free e-book, and enjoyed it enough that I bought the bundled series. The writing isn't great, but the story pulled me along through the four short books of the series. It wasn't laugh-out-loud funny, but there were several moments that made me smile. The bit about Elvis made me laugh and get a little teary-eyed at the same time. For those that didn't think the ending was enough, be aware that this is really only the first part of a longer book. The final ending is a nice surprise, and gives a whole new twist on the Stranger and his mission.
People who enjoy this would also like the Joshua series by Girzone, and Leonard Wibberly's 'Stranger in Killnock'.
I was not aware that this is book nr. 1 in a series. Very disappointing. However, it gave me quite a few chuckles on the bus to work waaay too early, so it saved my morning. I might even buy the next one to find out what happens!
This edition had many "typos", which I found distracting. Hope that will be edited. The humour is a bit juvenile from time to time.
P.S. I would not recommend this to Christians, unless the have a very relaxed feeling toward their own religion and beliefs.
This book is pretty cookie-cutter, flat-charactered and hastily thrown together. There's plot holes, inconsistent characterization (when there's any characterization at all), and a whole lot of nonsense that feels more like the world's most boring Christmas letter than an actual story. It was a good idea, but it was executed very weakly. There are a few typos, and overall it simply bored me. There were some things included for shock-factor that fell flat, some jokes that felt weak, and a lot of things that didn't really make sense.

Ironically good!
This was an interesting, thought-provoking read.
The admission of Jesus to the psychiatric unit for mandated assessment was particularly ironically amusing. Having worked in Psych and admitted several Jesus', it somewhat rather belatedly dawned on me that if indeed JC did reappear on Earth in a western country he would indeed be treated as delusional.
I've had similar conversations that occurred between Enoch and Jesus, quite eerie.
The writing is wry and amusing, the characters are three dimensional and the serious topic is handed very subtly.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, much to my surprise, and will be following Lyle and Jesus on the remainder of their far from straight-forward journey. I just downloaded the remainder of the series. That says a great deal.
Highly recommended.
